MISSION

The project aims to collect used, junk lead-acid batteries for recycling into fresh raw materials for the production of new batteries and consequently, aid in the eradication of pollutants which harm human life and the environment. No other NGO program or project can boast of having the support of a government regulating body and of a private corporation at the same time. In this aspect, Bantay Baterya is a pioneer, as well as in being the only campaign which advocates proper disposal of junk batteries. As per the Memorandum of Agreement between the three parties, EMB has waived the provisions of R.A. 9003 regarding the transport and storage of junk Lead-acid batteries for donations to Bantay Baterya. Donated batteries will then be sold to PRI, for proper recycling. The proceeds from the project will be used to fund the following environmental projects of Bantay Kalikasan: The Save The La Mesa Watershed Project and the Bantay Kalikasan Environmental Hotline which takes reports of ecological problems and malpractices.
