Lead-acid batteries have changed little in the past 220 years. While better containment materials and other components have replaced the peripheral parts, the concept behind the power-packed box remains the same. Lead plates covered with Lead paste are drowned in Sulfuric acid. The resultant chemical reaction produces enough electricity to provide starting, lighting and ignition to small and large vehicles, and motive energy for other machines ranging from forklifts to submarines. Industries and technologies requiring continuous and back-up energy are also heavily reliant on these batteries.
